Illusion is such a mystery
It makes a mountain of a molehill
For even as I forfeited your history
I never know your present still
At first it seemed the right thing
To look into your eyes and smile
And in my mind a small voice did ring
that your eyes were my turnstile
Of course you had another lover
But did that ever matter to me?
For my boyish heart thought it clever
To chase you, own you -- do you see?
With each chance meeting carefully arranged By me;
O what a futile chore
And you were right that I'm deranged
To ever wish for something more
Now that your final word's been said
And me: the last funny line
To woo you away from your present stead.
I lost you (were you ever mine)?
