I Could Save You Can you Save Me?
~ Sarah Elizabeth Merenda
Its 2 in the morning and
She’s glued to the carpet
The pills are all missing and
The bottle is empty
Her makeup is everywhere
Her lipstick is smudged
She lays on the floor
of the lost and departed
Her laughter is silent
and no words will come out
Though she sings us a song
About the broken hearted
The gift of starting over
When all that’s left is
just an empty bottle
She doesn’t seem to care
The numbness makes her feel real
The truth about forever
When forever is over
To the point of no dreaming and
The ground is now colder
She’s missing excitement
Though no one tends to notice
That her body is not there
Now she seems to believe
That’s she’s outside his window
When all that’s left is
the look that she’s fearless
When her eyes have glazed over
But her heart is still pounding
She choose this to be him
The girl who will never win
Disguising the body
As just another passerby
When all that’s left is
The gift of another days end
