Premonition
by
Suzanne D.

the last time i saw you,
i left and said my heart hurt.
you said it hurt because i
liked you; even though true,
i had to have known then
that it would be the last
time we would be together,
as we had many other times.
i felt you fade away before
you knew it to be so and
i felt your heart wander
before i realized this
was never meant to be.

now life floats by as
before, but seems strange
without knowing if i will
see you again in the same
light; or knowing if i will
be able to glide my hands
over your soft skin, or hear
your admiring words in my ears,
or look deep into your brown
eyes, while we breath in unison.
all that is left is the thought
'what if' and please,
one more time...
