Telluride is a great
romantic vacation destination year-round. Telluride hosts two festivals every year; a film festival every Spetember,
and a Bluegrass music festival in June.
Telluride also boasts world class hiking trails (for that quiet picnic far from
civilization), and bike trails for everyone from the casual peddler to the world class mountain bikers!
There is horseback riding, for those wishing to ride off into the sunset together, or recreate the days of
Butch Cassidy (he was a fixture of early
Telluride).
The San Sophia Inn, The Inn at Lost Creek, and the Hotel
Telluride are romantic spots that are great during the warmer months,
as well as peak season. The Inn at Lost Creek even has two rooftop hot tubs, which can be reserved ahead of time for
complete privacy and a can make for a very romantic evening!
Telluride has the highest concentration of 14000 foot peaks in the state and a long mining history.
Numerous weathered ruins of old mining operations dot its surrounding hillsides.
Today the mines are silent and aerial trams leading up the mountains do not carry skiers, not ore and miners.

Telluride sits in a box canyon. Steep forested mountains and cliffs surround it.
Bridal Veil Falls, at the head of the canyon,
is Colorado's longest free-falling waterfall at 365 feet.
The structure at its side used to be the Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric Power Plant, which provided electricity to the town of Telluride.

A free gondola connects the town of Telluride with its companion town Mountain Village, Colorado at the base of the ski area. The gondola is open 275 days/year, 7:00 a.m - Midnight.
