It seems like it's the only reason about 13 million people are on Twitter is to try to get noticed by, to be followed by their favorite singer/hero/idol/future husband, Justin Bieber!

As I write this, Justin Bieber is very nearly the most followed person on all of Twitter, with almost 13.2 million followers. One big difference in Justin Bieber's Twitter account from so many other celebrities' accounts- Justin Bieber has made it a habit to try to follow back many of his fans on Twitter. A rarity in today's world of big stars with big egos- Justin Bieber has shown he understands very much how much his fans are responsible for his success. He shows it over and over in interviews, at his concerts, and in his Tweets. Today, Justin Bieber is following almost 117,000 fans. This may seem like a huge number- and his compared to almost any other 'A List' star- but it's still only %0.88 of his fan base- that's less than one follower in 100 that gets followed back.
So, how do I become one of those lucky few? Read on.
Now I may have been lucky enough to be followed by @JustinBieber himself recently, but I'm the first to admit that it can be a long, emotionally draining process, with brief moments of excitement when you see he's on- followed by the disappointment of not being noticed, again. I'll also admit that there's no magic formula or secret to getting Justin Bieber to follow you. One of the biggest components of getting Justin Bieber to follow you- is LUCK.
BUT, it's not ONLY luck. There are a lot of things you can control that may help increase the chances that Justin Bieber will follow you.
I want to help you get followed too- because I know how it feels to be a Belieber, and I believe that we're all family. Every one of you Beliebers out there deserves to be followed.
So, here's my (brief) list of things that may/will help you get followed by Justin Bieber:
- If possible, have a user name that is positive, and is Bieber related
- Try to be on when Justin's on
- If you're on a computer rather than your phone, put Justin's profile on a different tab than you're using and refresh it every couple minutes, so you can see if he's Tweeted recently
- If you are using Twitter on your phone, save multiple drafts of Tweets, for sending when you see he's on and Tweeting
- When Tweeting, say things relevant to what Justin is tweeting about
- Use the same #hashtags that he is using at the time, especially if they relate to his music, appearances, concert dates, or things he's promoting
- Tweet multiple times
- Tweet something interesting, or at least something a little different than the hundreds of Tweets that are no doubt scrolling past him
- Have an eye-popping (but appropriate) icon on your profile
- Don't send hate tweets about his girlfriends or friends- this should be obvious, but you know how jealous Beliebers can get... (this is always a good idea anyway)
- Don't give up! Persistence pays off. #NeverSayNever!
Follow these tips, and it will surely increase your odds of being followed.
I don't claim to have all the answers, and am definitely open to others' suggestions, corrections, or tips. Let me know, and I'll post them here and give you credit!
