I'm ready for my first date- now what should I do?

I like this guy, and my mom says I can finally date! But when she says "date," she's means "hanging out." I want to really date this guy, and go out places, not just have him over to do homework or have him over for dinner with my mom, brother and me. I don't even know if he really likes me, and if he'd even go out with me at all! What should I do?

You should explain to your mom that you are a responsible person, and would like to be allowed to actually date, even if only on Friday and Saturday nights.
