Lingering Agony
~
Icel Romanes
My soul was trapped in a ravine,
Feeling a profound love yet confused,
It ought to be serene but stayed pretentious,
Should have been devoted but chosen to be deceitful.
Now lost in an abstract reverie of its own fate,
Became a prisoner in that murky place.
Kneeling down in front of her master,
Willing to bare its soul on his command.
But then my heart read his mind,
And my ears heard his words.
My eyes began to weep, as his voice echoes…
"Forget the love I cannot ever fought for."
Wearing the mask of hypocrisy,
He turned back and walked away.
I can no longer see his silhouette,
And a mourning heart was left in silence.
There's a wound in my soul
That is hard to soothe,
A vicious pain in the heart
That can never easily fade.
